Self-Ligating (Damon) Braces
Low-friction bracket systems designed for smoother tooth movement and fewer adjustment visits.
Duration
Often at the shorter end of the 12 to 24 month range, case-dependent.
Visits
Typically every 6 to 8 weeks: longer gaps than standard braces, since there's less to adjust each time.
Self-ligating braces use a small clip built into each bracket to hold the wire, instead of the elastic ties that standard braces need. That single difference removes friction from the system: the wire can slide more freely as teeth move, and adjustments take less time because there's no tie to replace.
Not every case benefits from this. If your correction is straightforward, the difference in outcome versus standard braces is small. Dr. Singh will tell you plainly whether your bite is a case where the lower-friction system actually helps, rather than upselling it by default.
Suits you if
Patients who want fewer or shorter adjustment visits, and cases where reduced friction genuinely speeds up tooth movement.
Probably not for you if
Simple cases where a standard bracket system reaches the same result for less. We'll say so rather than recommend the more expensive option automatically.

Invisible braces
“My braces journey so far with Dr. Manjeet has been really smooth and comforting. Getting braces was honestly scary at first, but choosing my dentist was the best decision.”
Damon is a specific brand of self-ligating bracket. The mechanism, a clip instead of an elastic tie, is the same across brands.
Often, yes, because the wire needs less frequent intervention. How much fewer depends on your specific case, which is exactly what the consultation is for.
The opposite: no elastic ties means fewer surfaces for plaque to collect around, which most patients find easier to keep clean day to day.
